Admissions FAQs

What are the requirements for admission?

Please refer to the requirements here.

I haven't completed the prerequisite coursework. Is there a list of recommended courses I can take to meet the program perquisites?

We offer online courses through Coursera to help prospective students satisfy the requirements.

For the principles of accounting course prerequisite, we offer the three courses below. The three courses, in combination, will satisfy the principles of accounting prerequisite.

For the business management course prerequisite we offer a course titled Business Strategy https://www.coursera.org/learn/strategy-business

You will want to make sure that you earn a course completion certificate for each course so you can prove your successful completion of the courses.

Do I have to take the GMAT or GRE to apply?

GMAT or GRE scores are required, but may be waived if you have at least three years of relevant, full-time professional experience, with demonstrated career progression or a graduate degree from an accredited institution. To apply for a GMAT waiver please  submit this form.

Does the iMSA program offer scholarships or tuition waivers through teaching or research assistantships?

The iMSA program is a self-funded program and does not offer scholarships or tuition waivers. We encourage you to seek private scholarships to help pay the cost of the program.

Can I use any of my past credits toward the iMSA degree requirements?

We do not offer options to apply credit toward the iMSA degree requirements. All iMSA degree requirements must be satisfied through courses offered at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

I noticed there is a required deposit. How does it work?

Applicants who receive an admission offer are required to submit a $250 USD deposit to reserve their spot in the program. The deposit will be applied to the student’s account after the 10th day of class.  The deposit will not be applied to a student’s account if they are not registered on or after the 10th day of classes.  The date for the 10th day of classes is listed in the Academic Calendar.

Do I have to submit official transcripts and degree certificates to apply?

Yes, but this can wait until you receive an admissions decision from the iMSA admissions team. We can complete a review of your application based on unofficial copies of these documents uploaded in your online application. If you have been admitted to the iMSA program, you have to request that the educational institution which issued those transcripts and degree certificates mail your official and original transcripts and degree certificates in a sealed envelope directly to us.
